The Upper Zambezi River is a beautiful place for canoeing (we use rafts for safety), with stunning vegetation such as ebonies, water berries, palms and a tremendous variety of acacia and Albizia. The Raft Trail whilst operated in Zambia passes through National Parks located in Zimbabwe, and the pristine bush land of Zambia where there is a possibility of chances to see game such as hippo, crocodile, elephant, giraffe and numerous birdlife.

Safety first
With our Zambezi canoeing safaris, safety is our major concern. A full safety briefing is given before the safari commences and paddle training is given on dry land and then perfected on the river. Overview – Half-Day Upper Zambezi Raft Float

The Upper Zambezi River is a beautiful place for a raft float, with stunning vegetation such as ebonies, water berries, palms and a tremendous variety of acacia and Albizia. The Raft Trail whilst operated in Zambia passes through National Parks located in Zimbabwe, and the pristine bush land of Zambia where there is a possibility of chances to see game such as hippo, crocodile, elephant, giraffe and numerous birdlife.

The Raft Float Safari is operated on the fourth largest river in Africa, the Mighty Zambezi. With an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna this guided safari allows ample time to experience this majestic river with ease. You’ll paddle downstream on a relaxing adventure and enjoy incredible sightings of birdlife, elephant, buffalo, hippo and crocodile who share their domain with you.

The Upper Zambezi River is regarded as “free flow” and as such the water is subject to seasonal variation. Water levels begin to rise in December and normally peak in April / May. Therefore, throughout the season the route varies as channels open and close with the rise and fall in water levels.

The Upper Zambezi has numerous heavily wooded islands, which are dissected by channels that may be as much as several kilometres in length and vary in width from one to twenty meters. The rapids are small and at their peak are only classed as grade two, which as categorized by the British Canoe Union is the second easiest grade.
