Cape Town
Cape Town often referred to as the Mother City, is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, lying in the shadow of the imposing Table Mountain. Imposing views from the flat mountain top oversees the sweeping views of the city, and the harbor towards Robin Island, the once notorious prison that held Nelson Mandela.
Voted best city in the world for seven years running, it is a playground for leisure-lovers, adventure seekers and food and wine lovers from all over the world. Whilst it is probably best known for the Table Mountain which is itself famous for the 9000 species of fynbos in the National Park, the city has many more attractions such as sandy beaches, cultural city tours and surrounded by the famous Cape Winelands.
Chilly waters don’t put off the water-sports enthusiasts partaking in the highly popular kite surfing, surfing and bodyboarding and also provide the ideal home to the 3000 penguins at Simons Town’s Boulder Beach. Diving to view the Great White Sharks is an adrenalin filled experience.
Cape Town caters for the foodies with local traditional fare as well as modern style restaurants, and historical and cultural city tours are offered in the Company’s Gardens and the Bo-Kaap which is an area formerly known as the Malay Quarter.
The surrounding mountains and hills offer a wealth of outdoor experiences such as cycling, hiking and scenic drives, all contributing to Cape Town being the preferred gateway to the rest of South Africa and other African Countries to the North.
