Chobe Explorer Day Cruise Overview

The stunning and life-giving Chobe River forms the northern boundary of Chobe National Park.

The river begins its existence as a small mountain spring in Angola, where it is known as the Kwando (a Hambukushu name). From here, it travels great distances through the Kalahari sands before it reaches Botswana and becomes the Linyanti (a Subiya name).

It finally becomes the Chobe at the border post of Ngoma, from where it continues to run along Botswana’s northern border before meeting the mighty Zambezi and tumbling over the precipice at Victoria Falls.

This full day Chobe Cruise starts at 11h00, departing from the Cresta Mowana Jetty. You will be welcomed aboard by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and muffins.

The triple decker vessel offers a restaurant on the ground floor, a lounge with comfortable couches and and occasional chairs on the middle deck, and an observation deck on the top level with shaded sun loungers. The vessel has full toilet facilities.

The adventure kicks off when the Chobe Explorer sets off to follow the river shoreline. The bird count along the Chobe river currently sits at 460 species. For the lovers of game watching, Chobe is home to the largest elephant population in the world.

At lunch you are served a mouth watering braai (barbeque) style meal, and of course we also have great vegetarian options. After lunch you can relax on the top deck sun loungers and have a short siesta or take advantage of the elevated game viewing vista.

Late afternoon, the Chobe Explorer meanders back home on a sunset cruise with sundowners in hand and docks back at the jetty just in time to watch the sun disappear behind the Horizon.
